Animal Procurement
All live animals used for research or instructional activities must be included in an animal care and use protocol approved by the NU-IACUC. All animals must be purchased through the DLAM Administrative office.
Animals may only be ordered from DLAM Approved Animal Vendors and can be received directly in the DLAM animal facilities. At the time of ordering, animals purchased will be subtracted from the total number of animals approved for that protocol. Once all the animals on a particular protocol have been used or ordered, the investigator will not be allowed to order additional animals.
Animals requested from other institutions or “atypical vendors” must go through the Import/Export process. Please refer to the NU-IACUC Policy on Importation and Exportation of Animals .
