Advanced Scientific Computation Center (ASCC)

Director: Arun Bansil

The ASCC occupies 2000 sq. ft. of beautifully renovated space in the Dana Research Center at Northeastern University. The high performance cluster contains 16 state-of-the-art EV6.7 (667 MHz) Compaq Alpha processors distributed equally among 4 boxes (es40) with a fast memory channel interconnect between the boxes. Three of these four boxes will have 4GB RAM each, while the fourth box will have 16GB RAM to allow memory intensive simulations. A network of workstations (technical specifications) provides an additional computational resource. A TL891 DLT Mini-Library provides automated backup. The entire ASCC domain is hard-wired with CAT7 wiring and supports a switched 100Mb environment. The operating system is Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1
